Should Scotland be an independent country?

On the 18th of September 2014, the people of Scotland will be asked a historical question that will decide the future of the entire United Kingdom (UK).

The exact phrasing of the question is ""Should Scotland be an independent country?".

If Scotland voted YES this will have huge repercussions for the UK as a whole. Scotland has shared defence, agrucultural, and intelligence with the rest of the UK. Should Scotland seperate then they face uncertainties regarding which currency to adopt, how much trade ties they can have with the England and whether a VISA will be needed to travel to London.

If Scotland voted NO and adopted to remain as part of the UK, this will quash the independence movement that has been ongoing for over 300 years. This will likely result in the resignation of Alex Salmond, the pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) leader.

In today's poll, we ask not whether the Scottish people should be an independent country, but whether they will be.
